BRITISH BASKETBAL LEAGUE All-Star 2024

THE UNDENIABLE RISE OF BRITISH BASKETBALL

The rise of the British Basketball League over the last few years has been undeniable. Thanks to a financial boost, we have seen major improvements in facilities, coverage, talent and engagement. The pinnacle of this is the welcome return of the All-Star Game that took place on March 17th. Not only was this the first men's BBL ASG since 2011, but it was the first ever for the women, making it an incredible opportunity to celebrate the best of the best in both leagues.

Unlike similar events that have recently taken place in other regions (without naming names!), the women's game was very competitive and dope to watch. The North and South squads both played to win, with the South pulling away in the second half to take the win behind Temi Fágbénlé's 20-point MVP performance.

The Copper Box was then treated to an entertaining 3-point and Slam Dunk Contest. The 3-point was an innovative competition involving a mixed, men's and women's showdown where Matt Morgan went off to narrowly beat Aaryn Rai to take home the 2024 title.

In the Slam Dunk, it was Josh Sharma who impressed from the start. The London Lion's big man threw down a few ferocious ones that got me out of my seat. It would be his reverse east-bay off the bounce that secured the trophy and solidified the competition as a success.

Next, it was the Men's game - a high-scoring dunk fest. We loved it. If a lob wasn't being launched from the logo, it was a shot attempt. It was an opportunity for the players to let loose, enjoy themselves and demonstrate their skills. From a fan perspective, it didn't disappoint and was engaging from start to finish.

For us at BounceWear, this was an especially important event in that our London store was privileged to be involved as the official footwear supplier to both the men's and women's teams.

For us at BounceWear, this was an especially important event in that our London store was privileged to be involved as the official footwear supplier to both the men's and women's teams. On the day we equipped the women with the best Puma performance kicks and the men with Nike. It was dope to see Teddy Allen, who would go on to win MVP, rocking the Freak 5 "All-Star Weekend", featuring the red and white that repped his Leicester Riders squad on the day. It also has to be said that the MB.03 "Buzz City" joints that we dropped on Maddison Washington looked incredible with her North uniform.

All the shoes that were provided are available in our London store and/or online.

A big shout out to the British Basketball League for allowing us to remind our beloved hoops community that, wherever basketball is being played, BounceWear won't be too far away.
